It may well be that you're forcing a browser election.  I've set up my Samba
server at work to have a higher OS level to force it to be the browse master
so other machines that may get rebooted, turned off, etc. don't become the
master only to have it disappear.  If you have the ability/permissions to do
so, try turning off all the automatic broswe master settings except for one
NT/W2K machine (server preferred)...
