Subj : RE: PRO To : Jay Fuller From : Chris Cranford Date : Fri Dec 07 2001 03:26 pm -> Well, I did get it installed last night and it redirects to the board ok -> and it forwards web requests ok - - but - - on the local network, -> *nothing* works. I always get the netgear config screen (whenever I -> access *any* of my domains I host) How are you trying to access things on the local network? Are you attempting to go to your domain from inside and you're being prompted to login to the netgear router's web console? You will need to define your necessary hosts in your winnt\system32\drivers\etc\host file in order to bypass this problem or install a DNS server on your network and point your machines to this DNS server. Let me know if this is the problem. -> From the internet, it works fine (believe me , I was so freaked out I -> went to my laptop and dialed a local ISP) - but I really need that -> functionality in my LAN. I had it with winroute..... It sounds like it's merely a host <-> IP resolving problem. If so, it's an easy fix. 1) Add all your host-ip mappings to the hosts file on each machine on your network. or 2) Install a DNS server that will resolve your domain internally to the IP addresses of your private LAN/network.
