You can re-install as many times as you like on the same hardware. You will 
need to activate but this can be done over the Internet in a few seconds.

If you install on a different PC then you will need to do a manual activation 
via one of the call centres.

Are you saying that you can only purchase Office XP as a
subscription? That certainly isn't the case in Australia.
