Subj : NTLDR To : Bob Hoffman From : Ed Bailey Date : Fri Oct 22 2004 10:39 am Bob Hoffman wrote in a message to All: Bob, this error is caused because your computer is not identifying your hard drive correctly. It can be caused by a number of situations, for example, if you have identified the drive in CMOS (Not using AUTO), and sometime while your computer is on, and you have a slight power glitch, it can change the CMOS setting - then NTLDR occurs, in this case resetting the CMOS whill allow your computer to boot. If you make a selection in the hard drive setup, via having the computer find the drive, it quite often will give you 2 or 3 options. Usually you should select the one with "LBA" indicated - but I've found that doesn't always work. The usual best option is just to select "Auto" in the hard drive window defining the drives in the computer. Now a unhappy prospect - your computer may not support a 200 gig hard drive, I also have a computer running W2k and when I went to install a 40 gig hard drive in it, I found the CMOS would not support anything over 32 gig, I ended up purchasing a updated CMOS - but it will only support up to a 137 gig hard drive. This is a 667 mhz computer probably 5 years old. Take care, have fun, don't panic. :)) BH> Can anyone tell me what cause NTLDR not found error on boot?
