Supposedly, the XP Advisor when run will tell you if you have any incompatible software or hardware that must be replaced before installing XP. XP is very fussy about drivers, certain programs, and some hardware. The advisor is generally pretty good but sometimes stuff gets overlooked. I really don't advise anyone to install XP on a system that is not 100% ACPI version 2 compatible. It'll work, but usually you wind up with shutdown problems, no standby or hibernate available, and unpredictable reboots. Win2000 would be a better choice IMO, even though it too likes ACPI compatibility. Less headaches.
