   I am a little surprised that system won't handle XP.  I am running XP
   Home on a P II, 266MHz with 128k ram.   If I had bought it 2 weeks
   earlier, it would have been exactly that<G>.

  Has he looked at the XP Advisor?  Will XP refuse to install, or is it
  just that they advise against it.   On my 266Mhz machine, it runs
  fairly well so long as I don't try to run too much at one time.

  Or was there some other issue, e.g. available disk?
