However, the concept is still the same. Just make a backup of the contents of the \system32\catroot folder before deleting it. The procedure definitely works with XP Pro and Home. MS in their wisdom? has changed the way the critical update page operates several times since last year. If you've been keeping up with the news on this - the critical update page now transmits quite a bit of data about your hardware back to MS. Who knows what else the "evil empire" is gathering from your system. Sounds paranoid doesn't it?
