EINTR was mentioned as a possible situation when using signals (as in pthread_kill) and only as something to have in mind, not as something to be used towards a solution. My posts about segwait, again, probably have nothing with your train of thought, but are means of getting somewhere with situation of original poster. Sigwait is what I had used in similar situation for thread resuming. If you follow this thread, it's all about start/stop of (possibly) large number of threads by single thread depending on some predicate. dd dd .
