It would help if you gave some details:
What version of Solaris are you using?
    Solaris 2.6, Solaris 7, Solaris 8, Solaris 9, Solaris 10?

Some at least sample code:
   How do you call pthread_cond_wait()?
   In a loop, testing a condition?
   How do you set the condition?
   While holding the mutex?

There is a paucity of information in this discussion.
