I created an api for the platform specific processor or thread status
to make porting easier.  I have it working on OS X and Linux.  Needs
a rewrite since it's a hack job by this point.

Depending on the testcase parms I can get up to 32000 reads/sec/thread on
Linux.  So it's clear it's fast enough that all I'm seeing on a single
processor system is scheduler artifacts.

Now all I have to do (after the rewrite of course) is find a killer
app to write for it.
