On further note, I think the major issue here is expectations.  That is
where the learning curve comes in.  Unless you know what the trade offs
are, it's difficult to keep expectations reasonable.  There's probably
an optimal solution for all this, but there's no point in implementing
it if everyone believes there is some magical solution for all this.
