Subj : WinXP Home vs Pro Thread performance To : comp.programming.threads From : Joe Date : Thu Feb 24 2005 03:07 pm Hi, I have a highly threaded demo app which I run on a PC with XP home (SP1) and a Laptop with XP Pro (No SP). The CPU, memory etc of the two machines is similar. The order of execution of the threads execution varies between the two machines - not a problem - but the program always completes twice as fast on the laptop with Pro as opposed to the PC with Home. The PC does have more applications loaded which may slow things down, but I wondered if there are any known software differences between the two flavours of the OS which might account for this significant performance difference? Thanks .
