It's true, VL is great for old iron. I took over my girlfriend's 600MHz
laptop with 32 MB RAM; originally, it came with WinME, which was pretty
choppy from the beginning, if one chose to run more than one program at a
time. I put VL 4.3 on it, with Fluxbox. I set up keyboard shortcuts
for the programs I use - right at the fingertips! We have worked together
occasionally - with me on the VL box using AbiWord & XMMS for music and
her on a 2.4GHz WinXP laptop with 512 MB RAM using MS-Word and Media
Player for music (yes, we are both headphone
no-work-without-music-people). Her battery runs dry before mine...
