Why inetd over xinetd? xinetd is replacing inetd AFAICT. inetd appears to have been dropped from Debian Unstable, so eventually Stable too, and isn't available as a standard ebuild in Gentoo. > I have added the following line to /etc/inetd.conf and restarted the > internet superserver: > > imap stream tcp nowait root /usr/local/sbin/bincimap-up In a latter post you state: "I am using debian." and: "I'm using the bincimap debian package." If the second statement was true bincimap-up would be in /usr/sbin. There is also /usr/share/doc/bincimap/examples/xinetd-bincimap hence my question about inetd/xinetd. -- Andy. .
