Patrick, FWIW, I downloaded a long time ago, for MS Word, a set of macros that created such a tabbed interface (not as nice looking as FF, but certainly functional). The code was in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), but if someone knew StarBasic (or another language for which a binding exists, eg Python) and OOo's object model fairly well, *maybe* it could be re-created in OpenOffice. I've not used this macro setup or spent much time looking at it as it needed to be altered fairly extensively for use with my older version of Word (97), but the screenshots in the article looked most interesting. If you're interested in looking at the code, etc., be prepared to enter enemy territory to get it! [ ;-b ] It's at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnoffpro01/html/TabbedInterface.asp BTW, I'm not sure that such a translation, etc. is even viable, but the existence of this existing code (although for a different O/S and Office Suite) might get someone's creative juices working...
