Just looking in the distributions directory at Sunsite, there are 100 different ones (http://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/), and Distrowatch (http://www.distrowatch.com/) tracks roughly that many as well, and some of those are not on Sunsite and vice-versa. >YaST is really a great tool. While the GUI tools like YaST, or the stuff that comes with Mandrake, or Red Hat (Fedora) and whatever, are convenient for the newbie, they all have the drawback that they hide what's going on, and the newbie doesn't learn anything. If the system goes pear-shaped, you have no idea why, and how to correct it. >You can wait for the next version, SuSE 9.2 will be released soon Most Linux distributions are on something like a six month release cycle. But please remember that distributions are like cars. There are a lot of different makes/models, and everyone is sure that their favorite is the best one in the world. Obviously, that can't be true, but who cares as long as the user/owner is happy with it. Old guy .
