I do not want to discourage you, but I been where you are now. I also did 
not know much about OS or low level programming and was playing with an idea 
of writing a new OS. May be I was reading a lot about Linus. I dropped the 
idea eventually and did a project on Web programming. I am doiing that since 
then.
