Subj : Re: Linux On A Powerbook To : comp.os.linux From : Nitewolf Date : Wed Nov 03 2004 04:08 pm Hi I'm using FC2. although i'm looking forward to FC3, i had my eyes for gentoo for quite some time. in fact, i had dloaded the universal ISO Cd. i have a cable connection so it's no prob. I've read thru the install text and was quite confused initially on the different stages. but roughly i know that it's all about pre-compilations of the codes. i just want to have a taste of gentoo, is it normal not to have a gui install interface when i first boot the CD? that means i'd have to do my partition, and eth0 connection manually? wat is the fastest way to get it up and running? i've been using linux for months but still a newbie outside the GUI interface. i know how to handle partitions, i can install/remove packages (rpm) but am still not able to compile source codes. btw, i'm running linuz as a desktop -- re-installing MS every other week, i was fed up of the crashes and spam.
