Gentoo's great if you want to learn about the nuts and bolts of the OS, as you have to compile everything from source. This can make for a more efficient system - you can compile for your specific configuration - but it's a real hassle when you pick a wrong option, compile, find something doesn't work properly, and have to re-compile (again and again, in my case!). Yellow Dog "just works" (TM) and can be highly recommended. Chris -- Everything gets easier with practice, except getting up in the morning! .
