Although you'll probably need visual studio to compile the windows version in windows. There might be a wxwidgets/wxwindows work around though. M$ lost a suit against lindows, since windows is a generic everyday term. Which was somehow related back to a case about apple. So I'm not sure why wxwindows would change names, except maybe to avoid M$ attempts to vaporware by sueing out of existence. On the otherside of that, Allegro and SDL allows you some cross platform graphics compatibility for stuff like games. There's also portaudio that audacity uses to maintain platform independance.
