Subj : need help with lilo To : alt.linux,alt.os.linux,comp.os.linux From : s a n j a y Date : Tue Oct 19 2004 09:23 pm I have three different distros (debian, gentoo and mandrake) along with windows xp installed on one large hard disk. As it is an old desktop which does not support large hard drives, I have seperate boot partition for every OS, including windows, within 7 gb limit (300 mbs each) and root partitions installed after 7 gig. Everything was working fine before I decided to compile my debian kernel. After installing new kernel, i wrote lilo.conf file and installed lilo in MBR. I screwed up and now debian does not boot up. I am wondering whether any of you know how to fix lilo.conf and install it in MBR without reinstalling debian. I tried booting up in rescue mode with debian CD and writing new lilo.conf and running /sbin/lilo, but it somehow did not overwrite MBR. Thanks in advance sanjay .
