ive been doing a bit of digging on this, and to be honest, i cant
reproduce faithfully.  did you ever resolve?  i have a D600 running
slackware and the issue doesnt show (although plenty of others do...). 
im getting ready to ffr and start from scratch...so maybe i can help you
with this after all (crosses fingers)

also, care to post your wi-fi script?  i would be interested to see if
i could make it work for me...
