Subj : Help Switching to Linux To : comp.os.linux From : Nicholas Short Date : Sat Oct 02 2004 09:42 pm I'd like to switch to linux and am having a tough time figuring out if my hardware will work. The hardware databases at the distribution websites aren't exactly complete and understandable. I'm not a complete newbie, but never used linux much except trying to install it two years ago and going back to Windows because my hardware wouldn't work or work right. I here hardware support is much better now than it was two years ago and I am sick of viruses, worms, spyware, reinstalling Windows, etc. I'm listing my hardware below, thanks in advance for any help, distribution reccomendations, etc. HP Pavilion 8280 HP Intel 440LX chipset motherboard 333 MHz Intel Pentium II 128 MB 66 MHz SDRAM Integrated 4MB ATI Rage Pro Turbo (AGP) Ensoniq AudioPCI (PCI) Amplifier for connection to unpowered speakers, microphone (Riser) Lucent Windows Modem (ISA) Hitachi GD-2000 DVD-ROM Drive NEC Floppy Disk Drive HP D5259A M70 Multimedia Display HP PS/2 Mouse HP PS/2 Keyboard .
