Subj : Linux on Dell D600 - occasional S3 waking problems To : comp.os.linux.portable,comp.os.linux From : David Date : Sat Oct 02 2004 04:39 pm Hi everyone, I wonder if someone could help me? I have been setting up Linux (Fedora Core 2) on my brothers Dell Inspiron D600. After installing FC2 (which went fine) I recompiled a patched kernel by following the instructions at http://www.loria.fr/~thome/d600/. I have also installed the intel wireless driver, which is working fine (though I did have to write a script to bring the interface up properly). S3 sleep (suspend to RAM) does work now, BUT sometimes (not very often) the computer fails to wake up from sleep. Oh, the other strange thing is that when the computer wakes it seems to get stuck on the initial text screen (about restarting tasks) until you press a key on the keyboard. Then it continues without a problem. _Sometimes_ though when I wake it up (open the lid) the screen just stays black. It does come out of sleep mode, but doesn't do anything else. It's unpingable and doesn't seem to respond to anything except powering off (by holding down the power button) Does anyone have any ideas of what might be causing this? I can't seem to find any pattern to it. kernel: 2.6.8.1 with patches from http://www.loria.fr/~thome/d600/ Fedora Core 2 Dell Inspiron D600 (1024x768 resolution) Thanks, -- David .
