Subj : firefox problem

I installed debian recently. The very first program I wanted to install on 
that was firefox, but I could not because there was no GTK installed. I 
spent almost a week fulfilling all the dependencies for gtk and got it 
finally working.

Now I am trying to install firefox using the binary installaer from mozilla 
site, but it crashes with segmentation fault. The error message is

 firefox-installer: line 56: 20291 segmentation fault    ./$|BINNAME|-bin $0

Does anybody know how to fix this or what the problem is?
