Subj : Knoppix 3.2 refuse to boot from CD

hi just built this new ystem and i cant boot from the knoppix 3.2 or
3.3 cd's
system is XP2600 gigabyte 7S748 board  winxp pro new hd etc etc
error generated is:
1. FD 1.44 MB System Type-[0F]
Boot Failed

tried knoppix 3.2 and 3.2 on various [working on other systems] CD's
having a look on google i find a few others have seen this problem but
no solution....
thanks in advance to anyone who  can post a solution
