Subj : Compact Flash reader/writer -- please recommend To : comp.os.linux From : Bob Date : Wed Sep 22 2004 02:07 am Hello, I have a 2GB compact flash card that I would like to read/write. Can anyone recommend a good USB2-attached device for doing this? I tried to research this via Google, Pricewatch, Pricescan, etc. but couldn't find any real usefull info. Some things I did notice and wonder about... 1. Some devices advertise that they can read up to 1GB. Well, that's not enough for me! But, I suspect the device doesn't really limit the usable size of the CF itself. Most didn't make any mention of maximim capacity supported. 2. Some devices say things like "8 in 1"; others say "8 in 4" -- what's the difference? 3. Some claim to be extra fast (45x?). Is this really a consideration, or are all USB2 the same speed? 4. One said that you could plug in multiple cards and copy data from one to another, claiming this was unusual for multi-card devices. .
