Then you aren't root, try > 'id' to check, become root and retry. > id -un returns root after issuing su command I can't chmod the menu.lst file and I get an error message saying its a read only file system when I try. ls -al shows -rw------- 1 root root 1013 Sep 20 11:05 menu.lst I need to find a way to edit this file OR boot into Suse another way and change it. Right now I can't boot into Linux except for my Knoppix CD which I'm using now but that won't let me change the menu.lst file in the Suse partition. Any suggestions? Thank you. .
