Subj : Wireless setup, help please To : comp.os.linux From : Sonoman Date : Mon Sep 13 2004 03:11 pm Hi all: After a couple of days of research I have just attempted to configure my wireless card. It is an Intel Mini PC card 2200bg. I am using fedora core 1 with the 2.6.8 kernel on a sony vaio vgn s150. I followed the procedure from sourceforge to the letter, the only problem that I had was to put the firmware into a certain hotplug folder, since I did not have that folder in the same directory as the instructions I put the firmware files in ALL the hotplug directories I found in my system. Now my wireless card shows up on the network configuration (System settings -> Network on KDE) as eth2 (my NIC shows as eth0 and eth1 and seems to be working just fine) but nothing seems to be configured there for eth2, and also shouldn't it show up as wlan0 or something like that? Anyway, when I click on activate I get the following error message: ipw2200 device eth2 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization. Any ideas on how to fix this? If you need any more info from my system please tell me how to get it (I am a newbie) and I will post it. Thanks in advance. .
