I've tried moving the novel from StarOffice to OpenOffice 1.1.0. However, OO insisted on mangling the references in several of the page styles whenever I opened the SO format file into OO. This appears to be a bug in OO Windows version, I'm not sure. (Opening it in OO then immediately saving it (as test.sdw) in SO 5.0 format, then opening the test file in SO reveals the same changed header references.) The other feature I love in SO is the "start page" so to speak. When I launch SO I am presented with a window that contains links to documents I frequently use, including a few databases and spreadsheets containing data from them. OO presents me with a blank page and no option to links to it (that I could find). Having to "File | Open | [browse for file]" routine got old quickly whenever I wanted to open a file that was not on the MRU list. (Side note: I never could get OO to link to those databases after a few days trying (yes, I read the on-line help).) > I would recommend "SuSE Professional Linux" v9.1 to > replace your Win-98; its GUI looks and operates much > like Win-98.
