Windows remembers all your hardware, which could make bootup faster because nothing has to be re-detected. And you know the painfully slow detection program MS has - see what happens when you install it. Downside is that you can't change hardware without nagging. Not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? .
