Subj : A linux positive experience! To : comp.os.linux From : Kenneth Lantrip Date : Thu Sep 02 2004 05:51 pm I just upgraded my motherboard, processor, and memory for a computer that retired its motherboard. New stuff: ABIT KV8 Pro MB, AMD64 3400, 512M DDR400 Mem. Long story short, Windows 2000 bitched at every turn over drivers from 3 other motherboards that it has had to run in. Debian (from Knoppix HD install) just boots fine with no problems. It just way faster now. Finally did get Win2000 problems worked out. But if I had been a newbie, I'd have had to re-install everything from the OS up. I just thought it kinda nice that Debian didn't have any trouble what-so-ever about new hardware. Later. .
