Oh well...I > don't watch much TV anyhow. check to make sure you only are using either the alsa or oss in the kernel--one or the other--not both, for the sound card, then make sure it is being loaded properly--either as a module or natively in the kernel. remember if you load the driver twice you kill the card for the session. with linux is most of the fixes and drivers are for improperly loaded drivers for the hardware by the user. and improperly designed hardware by manufacturer (its not all the users fault--there is also a real lack of support departments to offer warrentied support--they can get away with it because most people don't know any better) basically repairing problems that don't exist really no doubt as most of the developers already know. tv tuner card--don't know yet haven't got one-- but it should be handled pretty much by the pci tools. I think i've checked happauge and their stuff looks pretty standard. basically find the ports and io addresses and load those when the kernel loads and make your block device and it shoul d work with a good streamer like mplayer. john .
