Subj : How to disable audible warning or ^G? To : comp.os.linux From : noone Date : Thu Aug 26 2004 02:39 am Short of disconnecting my PC speaker is there a way to get rid of those annoying beeps I get when I do something that the shell doesn't like. Type ^U on an empty line: get a beep. Type twice in VI: get a beep. Type for command expansion on a unique item: get a beep...It's enough to drive me up the freekin wall! Is there a BASH, GETLINE, or STTY setting to disable that crap? My old PC didn't have a speaker so I had forgotten how annoying that (feature) is. .
