A while back I had a AthlonXP 1800+ processor with a fan/heatsink which was certified up to 2000+. The damn thing got my processor temperatures shooting through the roof. Fortunately, my motherboard shuts the system down if the temperatures goes above XX. It saved the processor. Doesn't your motherboard do that? The only thing I could think of is if you made a really dumb mistake (like not installing the fan/heatsink properly or forgetting to hook it up). But I doubt that's the case :) Have you confirmed the processor dead in another computer? Willem .
