sensors-detect crashes, looking for /proc/bus/i2c

Once the three modules (core, i801, and dev) are loaded I
checked both /proc/sys/dev and /proc/bus...

no i2c or sensors entries are found.

I'm running linux-2.6.8.1 and lmsensors is the version
supplied with Suse 8.1
