I'd think that Linux is ready for whatever games you can throw at is, as sources such as Loki continue to port some games to Linux. However, the Linux user base is not as great as Microsoft's, hence game developers are choosing to spend time and resources on developing software for operating systems that most people use - OS X is in the same boat here, as are the BSDs. .
