Subj : Why Linux is NOT for everyone To : comp.os.linux From : Identity/Crisis Date : Fri Aug 20 2004 07:47 pm I have used Linux for around 6 months (SuSE 9.1 currently) and I see one large reason why Linux is not a good OS for everyone, and I see also why People still use Windows. There is ONE thing that Windows has that Linux does not: High-End games. I understand that linux is much more secure, and can recover more easily from some problems. But as far as most Windows users, Including myself, are concerned, games make the system. I dual-boot with Winxp and SuSE, and I wouldn't have to if there was faster development with X11 and better 3D acceleration. If these conditions were met, Linux would be viewed as a vialble OS to deploy games on, and I'm quite sure most large game companies (except Microsoft, of course) would start deploying games for Linux. .
