I'm not running on 1600 x 1200 because I have a 17" screen and it won't go that far. *But* I am running 1280 x 1024. Double-check your monitor settings under KDE Control Panel. I used to have the same problem when I was running Fedora Core 1 (bloatware thing...). Now I'm on Slackware 10. .
