Subj : Bash and utf-8 To : comp.os.linux From : =?UTF-8?B?0JLQu9Cw0LTQuNC80LjRgCDQndC+0LLQsNC6?= Date : Thu Aug 19 2004 08:56 am -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I am having some annoying problems with bash and utf-8. I am using LC_ALL=en_IN.utf8. Everything is going great. I can read utf text files, have utf filenames, etc. One thing that I can't seem to figure out though, whenever I type into the bash prompt, whether it be in konsole or in text mode, instead of utf-8 characters echoing, I get \321 and such. They echo fine in cat, but not on the command line. I am using bash-2.05b and readline-4.3. And yes, my LC_ALL is initialized in both /etc/environment and /etc/profile. - -- Владимир Новак -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFBJFz8calkIWEsRmQRAhy8AKC3ZBnXtOcR3yBSo5qbRlj7TK3jcgCeL97/ ZBoLyCT2OT8JLdPC20MnSQ0= =hxHr -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- .
