As another new Linux user I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Nomen Nescio above. Like him, I am happy to take a few years to become aquainted with my new favourite OS. Considering I spent the last 8 years learning an OS that wanted me to do anything BUT learn, I cannot help but feel I am finally in charge. I may even get to use the limited C & C++ skills I aquired all those years ago. Kudos to the experts who roam, looking for us lost sheep. I look forward to the day when it is I who gives some good advice. .
