Subj : Linux Gives Me Heartburn, But Compared To Windows?

I'm using linux about a month. mail and news and web browsing is fine; Kooka and Gimp can't seem to get serious with my scanner - maybe one preview scan, then crap out when I try to do the final scan;  It won't recognize my eth0 card - I can't see the other windows computer on our lan and it can't see my linux machine; Can't find a matching driver for my printer. The nearest match I could find prints everything 1/4 size.

So am I going back to windows? Hell no! After running those bloated applications and seeing my computer slow down, freeze, hang, bsod, at the drop of a hat; after being in a constant semi-rage at having to run applications that I *knew* were far too big for what I needed or even for what they could do; after being stuck with an OS that did everything in the most complicated way possible; after years of being wedded to that insane rubbish, seemingly with no escape, I have embraced the lovely linux and shall 
remain true to her.

I will be happy to confine my computing to mail, news, and browsing, if that is what I have to do; however, I am sure that my knowledge of linux will creep forward until I can fix the stuff that isn't working.
