Subj : I lost one virtual CPU in linux

I didn't notice when I lost one virtual CPU in linux. My workstation
is dell precision450 with dual CPU and hyperthreaded technology.
Usually it appears 4CUPs when I type 'top'. But now it only show 3
CPUs. I don't why and when I lost it.
Could someone tell me?
