One is a giant company to pour lots and lots of money into an advertising campain. Much like microsoft's. But ironically advertising isn't 'free'. And the one thing that really BUGS me about linux. INSTALLATION. I've tried quite a few distro's, Debian, Redhat, slackware, caldera, etc, etc. and I've experienced problems in installing software in EVERY one. I'm not the best linux person but if it's ever going to reach the masses, that's one thing they've really got to work on. I must admit it is getting better. Most source is ./configure && make && make install. I remember when I first started using linux. I think it was SUSE (back in about 1998). Installation was tough. (I didn't really know much about partitioning, (fdisk was a tool that just meant 'data loss' to me)) But I learnt. I've had quite a few problems with linux really but I've worked through them, I feel I'm a better person in a way. It's good to see installion's getting easier. It's ALL getting a little better. Australia is a BIG fan of the underdog. Linux will win. It's already won in my house. --jmuller .
