Subj : VFS: unable to mount.... on SuSE Linux 9.1 Pro. with Kernel 2.7 To : comp.os.linux From : Tamer Higazi Date : Mon Aug 02 2004 02:07 pm Hallo. I have problems getting the latest Kernel 2.6.7 compiled for SuSE Linux 9.1 Professional. I have a machine with ReiserFS installed. When i boot, i receive all the time the Error: VFS: Unable to mount hdb /hdb is the Linux hard disk, but why the system is unable to mount it, is for me very strange. I compiled the kernel twice, with built in ReiserFS and as module. Why the kernel is unable to recognize the file system is something i still don't understand. I created the initrd with: mkinitrd -k vmlinuz-2.6.7 -i initrd-2.6.7 I removed ext2,JFS,ext3 and left only reiseerfs module and another time i built the kernel with reiserfs in the kernel (not as module). All the time i receive the same message. It's driving me mad! For any help of your side Thank you .
