I want to use an all > around system for development of applications and to edxperinent with. .... suse is a great, all-around distro - if you get the professional edition, you'll get a distro jam-packed with software (you could order the "upgrade" edition, which is the same as the full-blown box, except the upgrade has one book, while the full has three). it's pretty easy to install and administer. it has pretty much everything you'll need. another avenue to take is gentoo(.org). it's a source distro, which means the intent is to install from sources and build the system as required. updating and adding software is a simple matter: [shell] emerge --update world (updates the whole system, as required) [shell] emerge --install kde (download and install the kde) gentoo is a pretty cool distro, but will take a little bit of time upfront to get it running. of course, there IS the binary install option .. -- << http://michaeljtobler.homelinux.com/ >> First Rule of History: History doesn't repeat itself - historians merely repeat each other. .
