Subj : Weird sound problem occuring... To : comp.os.linux From : rnwvr Date : Thu Jul 29 2004 06:21 pm Hello, I'm new to this group first of all, so hi everybody. Second, I'm not new to Linux :) but have never had this glitch happen before: I have a Toshiba Satellite 4090XCDT with Debian unstable installed on it. I compiled the ALSA drivers as modules in a custom and otherwise very efficient 2.6.6 kernel. The problem I have is that when I play a sound file (have only tried with an MP3) with either mplayer or xmms, and scroll up or down in Mozilla, the sound slows down to about 2/3 the speed of what it should be... Also, when I try to run esd, instead of getting the normal beep-beep-beep-beep one time and then esd starting... it just repeats the beeps... like it's hanging... I have to stress that this kernel is otherwise VERY, EXTREMELY stable and fast! The system easily plays divx movies with mplayer. So why would this slowdown with audio files occur? I think it's a weird problem, anybody have any hints? Michael .
