SAS will be backwards compatible with SATA, not the other way around and I do not think with (parallel) SCSI either. If you cannot wait for SAS to take off, then I suggest you invest in SATA instead at this point in time. Tyan makes motherboards with SCSI controllers built in, you may also want to consider a card instead (on that, note that there seem to be a shift underway from PCI to PCI Express). /Allan .
