I prefer M$ for certain things and Unix for others. Why does pointing out the strengths of product A immediately mean product B is essentially no good. I am claiming that M$ managed to become a lot more organized product line whereas Linux remains very confusing. It may be that _within_ M$, projects are just as unwieldy, but the general public would never see that. Also, if not for the Cygwin suite, I would not have adopted WinXX as easily. >If it's so damn dependable why does Windoze lock up or crash all the time? >Why do Windoze users constantly have to reboot? Also, the failures depend on how you use the machine. Lately, my Redhat 9 Gnome desktop crashes and locks up more than Win98. >> Note that I'm not praising M$ blindly... > >However, you do sound like an apologist. Apologizing to what? I praise M$ for _certain_ things it has done well over the years and believe that Linux could learn some lessons from it. Likewise, M$ could learn some lessons from some of the Linux strengths. >OK, then buy the box that you want to work with. Yes.
