Subj : poweroff via keyboard To : comp.os.linux From : kermit Date : Sat Jul 24 2004 05:36 pm Hi ppl, Does anyone know how could I program one of my "dead" keys to poweroff the computer ? So far I mapped the key to some stupid character via xmodmap, then I used the character as a shortcut in KDE. Unfortunately, KDE is very "smart" and concerned with my well-being, so for shutdown it only lets me use a combination of Alt/Ctrl/Shift + that key. More general question, how can I execute a process of my choice whenever a particular key is pressed ? Mike .
